Introduction

           The AMC hit television series Breaking Bad originally aired in January 2008. Season 1 was packed with plots twists and dramatic scenes. However, one scene in particular seems to stand out above the rest. This scene is the introduction to Season 1, Episode 6 - "Crazy Handful of Nothin'." In this two-minute clip, we are exposed to a side of Walter (Walt) White we have not witnessed before. Because of its remarkable foreshadowing and ability to show the transformation of a character in a mere two minutes, this is by far the best introduction scene within the series Breaking Bad.

           While most critics choose to analyze an entire episode or season, I have chosen to focus on just the introduction. I feel that this scene is crucial for our understanding of past, present, and future episodes, especially in the case of Episode 6. This scene reveals a dark side of Walt. In all previous episodes, Walt does not want to partake in violence. In this scene, despite Walt's claims, it is clear more bloodshed is to come. Throughout the series the introduction scenes help to grab our attention and keep us watching; they aren't given the credit they deserve.

           In hopes to expand your thoughts when watching Breaking Bad, I have created this blog. To best achieve full understanding, I suggest you navigate the blog from beginning to end. In other words, start here at the Introduction, then move to the Evidence, and finally to the Conclusion. Before reading my evidence, I ask that you watch the video clip it is based off. I have attached the video, along with a reminder, for your convenience at the top of the page. My evidence is displayed in chronological order and may require you to look back at the video for the best understanding. I have made note of the necessary time frames where applicable. When finished on this page, I then provide a summary and detailed explanation for my blog in the Conclusion.

           As a dedicated fan of Breaking Bad, I have created this blog for fellow fans and anyone who may be interested in the show. What began as a college English project has now turned into expressing my opinion on a topic I truly enjoy. I hope you can gain a better understanding for the show at large, as well as, a greater appreciation for the introduction scenes and what they have to offer. Don't be in a hurry to skip to the "good stuff" when, in this case, it's right at the beginning. Next time you watch Breaking Bad, pay close attention to the intros. I am confident you will be glad you did, especially if it's Season 1, Episode 6 - "Crazy Handful of Nothin'."
